What is the closest beach?
The closest beach is Playa Espadilla—the main public beach. The south end and national park are accessed by turning right on the main road. Park at Buena Vista (mid-beach) to avoid the crowds but have rental chairs. The north end (Playitas) is accessed by turning left, left again at Plaza Vista and then left again at the 1st dirt road. It’s about a 20-minute hike.
For Playa Biesanz, turn left on the main road, left at Plaza Vista and then go 1.5 km to the trailhead, an 8-minute hike from the road. Cove beach, okay snorkeling, rental kayaks and paddle boards.
Is the water drinkable?
Yes—the public water is drinkable in Costa Rica. The water at the villa is also filtered.
What if the electricity or water goes out?
The Costa Rican electrical and water systems are very dated. Occasionally, there are lapses in electricity, water or internet—though these generally only last a couple of hours. If any of these services goes out, please inform your property manager immediately to be sure.
Are there beach towels?
Yes—there are both bath and beach towels in the villa. The pool/beach towels are located near the pool bathroom. Please use the bath towels only inside the villa, and the beach towels at the pool or beach.
Who do I contact to set up tours & services?
Your property manager. We are always available to assist, and know the best and safest tour operators, transportation companies, guides, chefs and spa therapists in town. We can also give you suggestions for off-the-beaten-path places to visit, and hiking. Please reserve well ahead of time to ensure availability.
Does the villa have air conditioning?
Of course! There are mini-split AC units in each bedroom. Please do not set below 20 degrees Celsius (68 Fahrenheit), as this may cause the units to freezeup. Electricity is expensive in CostaRica AND we want to protect the environment, so please turn off the AC units when you’re not using them, or when you leave.
Is the kitchen stocked?
In terms of food—no, though your concierge can help set up delivered groceries before your arrival. In terms of cooking implements—yes. There are full cooking utensils: Pots and pans, a coffee-maker, blender, microwave, toaster, stove, oven, refrigerator and plenty of gourmet vibes!
Can I get a chef?
Your concierge can help arrange chef services. Prices vary per chef, but in general they charge about $150 + groceries per meal.
Is there a stereo?
There is a common area stereo in the pool lounge which is available to use by guests. Please respect others’ right to tranquility, and also note the neighborhood quiet hours after 9:00pm.
Can we check in early / check out late?
The usual check out time is before 10:00am, and the usual check in time is after 3:00pm. If there are no other guests leaving / arriving on the day of your arrival / departure, we can be flexible with the time. However, we can only confirm this a couple of days before your arrival.
Are there event fees?
Yes—there are event fees for any event that exceedsthemaximumcapacity(16people). They are as follows:
- 19-30 people: $500
- 31-45 people: $750
